It is hard to come to any conclusion because we do not know any of system specs.

What kernel version are you running?

What version of ivtv are you running?

Did you remove the kernel modules for saa7115 tveeprom msp3400 tuner (you do not
want to do this with 2.6.15 or greater)?

Did this problem happen the first time you installed ivtv or have you rebooted 
since
then?
