Aaah, thx, this is explaining a lot... I was in doubt, how your equation
60 x HZ / 100 could even produce 600 ms.... But I supposed some recalculation
elsewhere...

Yup. Clear now.

I tried, it looks, the initialization failure is less frequent than with the
original setting, but (as you can see in the attached log) it is many times
still present. Formerly it was let's say 50:50, now ~75% success.
I tried also parameters ivtv_pci_latency and newi2c : they have no influence
on the process, the ratio success/failure seems to be the same.

I do not think so:
a)my PSU is Chieftec 460W, which should be able to manage single core
Athlon64-3200+ without problems, esp. because I have not too power hungry
videocard (Matrox G450, AGP, just passive cooler is on the chip => it cannot
consume to much power). And the system is NOT overclocked.
b)When my system is warmed up, X running, PVR-350 is producing mpeg2 stream,
which I am recording on disks (I am using raid1 array with reiserfs) and
simultaneously watching it with xine, then power consumption should be much
higher than during simple initialization of PVR-350 by loading of the modules
from text console, right? And I did not ever noted any strange
failures/lock-ups etc. at such moment, only during manipulations with
loading/unloading of ivtv driver.
c)If PSU was involved, why the situation would be ivtv_driver-version
dependent?
Just to exclude other factors: I ran memtest86 for almost week in the past,
when I built the system: without any single error.

Thank you, Hans, for fast reply...
