I dunno there Simon, since giving that VIA chipset mobo of mine the ol' 
heave-ho I'm up to 4+ days of up time with not a peep from the IVTV 
complaints dept.  And that's with me running continual stress tests 
too.  I've had both PVR-150's running almost continually with VBI turned 
on, MythTV's been transcoding continually, I've had nuvexport 
transcoding as well, and just for good measure I wrote a quick script to 
continually push and pull some 1GB files between my workstation and the 
Myth box for the last few days...my poor baby didn't know what hit her!

If I was a betting man, I'd be putting my money on the VIA chipset being 
the root of my IVTV problems.
