Let me start by saying I've spend the last week working on this, reading
through the archives, etc. and not found a solution although I've found many
similar questions but none identical...
I got a new PVR-150 (not the MCE) a few days ago rather than going the Tivo
route. I already had a dedicated FC5 box running so figured it would work
out great. It was quick and easy to get MythTV setup following Jarod
Wilson's (??) guide except for 1 part, the audio. All I get about 90% of
the time is white noise, while video works great. Once in awhile the audio
will decide to work (although extremly low volume). The audio does the same
thing with MythTV, cat /dev/video0 > test.mpg, and mplayer. If it doesn't
work from the get go it isn't going to. If it does work from the start it
has not laster for more than about 30 seconds and changing channels has
nothing to do with it.
At first I was running FC5 with all the standard updates as was suggested by
the guide. When that didn't work I tried the knopmyth LiveCD, which doesn't
even detect any channels when scanning. I decided to do a fresh install of
FC6 and test that using the process outlined in the guide, same exact
problem. I then formatted again with FC6, no updates, and manually compiled
lame and ivtv...same exact problem. Tonight I have tried downloading the
latest firmware from ftp.shspvr.com (the Hauppauge FTP site isn't allowing
anonymous access) and loading that, still the same problem. At first I was
using the firmware suggested on the ivtvdriver.org site but some of the
reading indicated that may not be the best version to use.
I've tried switching audio inputs, switching away from tuner input and back
to tuner as suggested in some of my reading, that did not work.
I've got a week to either get this card working or take it back to CompuUSA
otherwise I'm stuck with a useless $50 paperweight, any help would be
appreciated.
I am in the US using us-cable if that makes any difference. I know the cable
is working as it works fine on the TV and as I said audio works approximatly
10% of the time. The only thing I haven't been able to do is test the card
in Windows to verify that it isn't a hardware problem. All of this is
running on a Compaq/HP 1910NX.
The versions installed prior to tonight were exactly as suggested in the
previously mentioned guides. Tonight I was attempting to compile 0.8.2 with
lame 3.97 if that makes any difference (it was the only requirement I was
missing when I first attempted to compile). Kernel tonight is 2.6.18-1.2798,
the origina FC6 kernel.
Here is some of the info that I hope will help, thanks in advance
