Hi folks.

I am having a curious problem after performing an upgrade to 0.10.5.
Put simply, the audio works fine but I find my image is almost
completely indiscernible due to profound static-like artifacts. I
say "static-like" because it does not appear to be normal TV-
interference (I am using a cable connection). Indeed, it appears to
be caused by a configuration setting or firmware change which has
given the tuner some incorrect values.

My system is equipped with two drives, and the configuration of this
upgraded drive is:
* Kernel: 2.6.20-gentoo-r8
* IVTV: 0.10.5 with latest firmware
* Tuner Card: PVR500

It is important to note that I left my original configuration
untouched on a different hard drive. It continues to work just fine,
so I am certain this is a software problem. My other drive is
configured thusly:
* Kernel: 2.6.16-gentoo-r13
* IVTV: 0.6.4 with firmware from that era
* Tuner Card: PVR500

I should mention that I am only using IVTV for this testing.
Specifically, I will first attempt to tune a channel and then capture
some video as shown:
% ivtv-tune -c 37 -d /dev/video0 -t us-cable
% cat /dev/video0 > test.mpg

Clearly, we are working pretty close to the hardware in testing this
way. I have tried tweaking the frequencies manually using the "-f"
switch (+-0.5 MHz), but that has not improved the image at all.

If I reboot the system from my original drive (the 2.6.16 kernel with
0.6.4), everything works. Also, "dmesg" reports completely normal-
looking detection messages for the PVR500.

Any ideas what might be causing the image distortion?

Thanks!
