Sorry for the lack of information in my original post.  I am using YUM and
installing from the ATRPMS repository.

I ran the depmod, because the instructions I was following instructed me
to.  Does running depmod create a problem, or is it just unnecessary?

I am running a stock Fedora 8 kernel, no special compiling or such has been
done on this machine.  I hope this helps clarify things...  This box is a
MythTV setup and I have been following the instructions at:
