Rick, Here are the starting posts in two threads for background reading: http://linuxtv.org/pipermail/linux-dvb/2008-June/026701.html http://ivtvdriver.org/pipermail/ivtv-users/2008-July/008467.html The last post in the second thread kinda summarizes what needs to be done to get the new command sequences for the new Zilog API on the HVR-1600 blaster chip: http://ivtvdriver.org/pipermail/ivtv-users/2008-July/008487.html Mark Weaver of blushingpenguin.com (lirc_pvr150 author) gives an outline of how to capture the information from the Windows driver. You can search his blog for info about the lirc_pvr150 driver. Now that was just background for getting the lirc_pvr150 module to work without altering the firmware on the HVR-1600 significantly and staying stuck with the Zilog API. This is the achievable short term fix, that most people will be happy with. I can't do it because I don't have a Windows setup available with the proper tools. The option I mentioned that Steve seconded, I moved over to a thread in the ivtv-devel list. If you've got Linux tty driver or system on a chip or microcontroller programming experience, then maybe you'll feel comfortable helping out on that longer term effort: http://ivtvdriver.org/pipermail/ivtv-devel/2008-September/005787.html (Steve replied to the above post BTW with answers or stated intentions to answer my few simple questions and some lessons learned. He doesn't subscribe to the list, so he didn't send his reply there.)
