Hi, I just discovered that this (no firmware loading) happens only when module is loaded at boot time, when doing an rmmod ivtv and then reinserting the module there are no error messages in the log.

What can be causing this to fail at boot time? I am not entirely sure when the module is loaded, but I have followed the instructions on the fedora myth(tv)ology website, including generating a new initrd as described using "mkinitrd -f --with=tveeprom --with=saa7115 --with=tuner --with=saa7127 --with=ivtv --with=ivtv-fb /boot/initrd-`uname -r`.img `uname -r` ".

I am attempting to install ivtv-0.2.0-58_rc3c under FC3 using rpms but I need some help on getting the ivtv module to load correctly.

A. I get the message "localhost kernel: tveeprom: no version for "struct_module" found: kernel tainted." in my messages log - should I worry about this message?

B. I am getting a message saying that ivtv was unable to open the firmware file /lib/modules/ivtv-fw-enc.bin. This file exists and is readable by everyone. What can be wrong?

Log included below.

Geir
