> *Traineeship* *Ref* *ECB/TR/024/10/I* *Business Area* *Secretariat & Language Services * *Directorate / Division* *Archives, Library and Records Division * Function The Directorate General Secretariat and Language Services of the European Central Bank (ECB) is seeking applications from recent graduates or students who are close to completing their studies to participate in a traineeship in its Archives & Records Management Section for a period of up to six months, possibly extensible by a further six months. Archives and Records Management Section is a part of the Archives, Library & Records Division and is responsible for: - Developing, implementing and maintaining the policies and procedures for archiving, document and records management. - Managing the central archives of the ECB - Providing electronic document and records management services - Coordinating the selection of systems and tools for document and records management. Providing related functional training, maintenance and support. - Supporting the introduction and further development of enterprise content management, including collaboration tools, for the ECB, the Eurosystem and the ESCB. The holder of this position will be expected to carry out a range of generic professional tasks in archives and/or records management (depending on their academic qualifications). Examples of such tasks include: - Assisting in the review or development of policies, standards, guidance and procedures - Archival arrangement and description of media and other archival material - Assisting in DIRKS-style (see http://www.naa.gov.au/records-management/publications/DIRKS-manual.aspx) analyses of business areas - Acquisition and appraisal of records and archives - Assisting in the specification and/or testing of requirements for electronic archives management functionality (the ECB has deployed an electronic document and records management system which may be extended for this purpose). Qualifications and experience The successful candidate must have the following knowledge and competencies: - A first cycle qualification (e.g. a bachelor’s degree) and either a post-graduate degree in archives or records management awarded within the last twelve months, or be enrolled in post-graduate studies in archives or records management - A maximum of 12 months professional experience since the most recent qualification. (Candidates should not have been a trainee/intern elsewhere for more than 6 months) - Fluent command of English with proven drafting ability. - Basic command of at least one other official language of the EU is also required. - Working knowledge of MS Office, in particular Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
