Google announces TV line up

Nearly five months after announcing that it was to enter the world of TV, 
Google has unveiled more specific details about the programme line up.

The search giant says that one of its goals with Google 
TV<http://www.google.com/tv> is to open up the living room and enable new 
innovation from content creators, programmers, developers and advertisers. The 
first of these partners has now been announced.

Turner Broadcasting will be optimising some of its websites for viewing on 
Google TV, including TBS, TNT, 
CNN<http://behindthescenes.blogs.cnn.com/2010/10/04/coming-soon-cnn-on-google-tv/>,
 Cartoon Network and Adult Swim. Its competitor NBC Universal has collaborated 
with Google TV to bring CNBC Real-Time<http://www.cnbc.com/id/39418634>, an 
application that allows viewers to track stocks and access news feeds while 
watching financial news from CNBC directly on the TV screen.

For its part, HBO has announced that it will bring access to hundreds of hours 
of programming to Google TV with HBO

 giving authenticated subscribers on-demand access to HBO content in an 
enhanced website for Google TV.

Amazon Video On

 will offer access to over 75,000 titles for rental or purchase, and 
increasingly influential OTT movie service 
Netflix<http://blog.netflix.com/2010/10/netflix-on-google-tv.html> will offer 
the ability to instantly watch unlimited movies and TV shows, anytime, 
streaming directly to the TV.

Other technology and media companies that has announced plans to optimise their 
content for Google TV include news sites like The New York Times and USA

Google's own YouTube Leanback<http://www.youtube.com/leanback>.

In addition to content owners and broadcasters, the US National Basketball 
Association is contributing NBA Game 
Time<http://www.nba.com/2010/news/10/04/gametime.google/index.html?ls=iref:nbahpt2>,
 an application designed to allow basketball fans to follow game scores in 
real-time and catch up on highlights in HD.
