Apreciados colegas,
titulada "Internships and placements for the new information society"

Call for Papers
Education and Training Section
Theme: Internships and placements for the new information society
As part of the 77th IFLA General Conference & Council, the Section on
Education and Training is organising an off-site half-day session with
the Graduate School of Information Sciences and Technologies,
University of Puerto Rico, San Juan. This event represents a great
opportunity for LIS educators and professionals from Latin America,
the Caribbean and elsewhere in the world to meet and share knowledge
and experience about current practice and issues relating to
internships and placements in the new information environment.
Colleagues in the region are looking to develop the existing range of
internships and placements to reflect the new information society and
the opportunities it affords.
This session will take place on the morning of 16th August, (9.00 - 12.30).
We are particularly interested in proposals for papers which explore
these topics (but not exclusively):
finding and working with new partners in business, industry, government, etc.
selection of students and placements
helping students with CVs / resumés / interview techniques
assessment and performance monitoring
developing relevant professional information skills in the workplace
integrating placements with the curriculum and involving professional bodies
the benefits of internships / placements for students, educators,
host organisations and employers
placements and internships and future employment.
We are also keen to receive proposals for posters on the above
subjects, from students / recent graduates for posters that share
experience of placements and internships from the region and elsewhere.
The language of the session is English, although any IFLA approved
language is welcome. Simultaneous interpretation, however, is not
available during IFLA off-site sessions. Speakers will be requested to
use English for their PowerPoint presentations.
