GSoC 2012 is just getting started. I think it was only officially announced last week. We haven't done our brainstorming yet for new project ideas, though you might find some potential projects by browsing through JIRA [1]. In particular these two JIRA issues [2][3] might be good to do as GSoC projects. You can also propose an original idea if there's something that you have in mind that you'd like to work on.
