I'd be in favour of this being merged and just dropping Java 8 support. Users of old JDKs already have releases that they can use. Whilst I don't like breaking compatibility for the sake of it, hanging on to JDK 8 support isn't that important, it's eol was 6 years ago. Supporting JDK 11 and above is probably more than most need. I'd also argue that supporting the latest LTS should be seen as more important that supporting a JDK over 10 years old. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
