I reinstalled JabRef and as a result have run into a set of problems. At this point, I find that in the General Field, File, I can display PDF files (with xpdf), but no longer can display plain text files with emacs.
In Options, Preferences, External Programs, Manage External File Types, I have for the Text line an application named emacs-jabref. I see this is what I had on my old machine, and F4 would bring up emacs to display/edit the file. I don't know what this emacs-jabref is, but in any case, it worked on my old machine and does not on the new. What is "emacs-jabref"? If it is selected as the editor/viewer for plain text, why is it not being called? Do I need emacsclient?
