I raised this question some time ago, but received no reply.

When I do C-S-i, instead of its bringing up the inBook template, I get
an Open file dialog. Is this a bug that has been fixed? If not, is
there a repair I might do?

I'm running jabref 2.6 of 2009 because that is the version associated
with the current Debian stable distribution (yes, I know). Should I
download and compile the source for a newer version? Is there any way
to do that without overwriting my existing configuration?
