Hi Mark,

I think you've misunderstood the subject of this message, although the
issue you mention could probably also do with some improvement. As I
understand it, this is regarding the definition of required fields in
customized entry types.

Sophie, you have perhaps already got some help on this issue, but I'll
go through how to define an "volume/number" setup for the benefit of
the mailing list:

1. Choose Options -> Customize entry types to bring up the customization dialog
2. Select "article" in the list to the left of the dialog.
3. Select "volume" in the center list. And click "Remove" below the
list. This removes "volume" as an absolute requirement.
4. Remove "number" from the right list in the same way.
5. Click the white field of the combobox (selector) to the left of the
"Add" button below the center list to get a cursor.
6. Edit the text in the combobox to say "volume/number".
7. Click the "Add" button.
8. Click "Apply" or "Ok" to store the changes.

Now both "volume" and "number" will be seen in the "Required fields"
tab, and entries will require only one of them to be considered
complete.
