since version 2.4 of JabRef I couldn't start the .jar-version via an Windows UNC-path (like \\server\share\ JabRef-2.7.2.jar). JabRef will only show the error message mentioned below. But if I map the share of the server to a local drive on the client the program starts without the error. Before version 2.4 JabRef starts also via UNC-path without problems. I think this is a bug and there is also an entry in the bug tracker (http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail <http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=2657602&group_id=92314&atid =600306> &aid=2657602&group_id=92314&atid=600306), but without any comments and evidently the bug is also not fixed yet. Is there a bugfix intended?
