Thank you Morten!
I just added the lines for my fields in the BibtexFields.java file and it
worked.
However, to achieve that the height of one of the fields is much bigger
than the others, I needed to put pWeight to extreme values of 4.9 and 0.01
while increasing MAX_FIELD_WEIGHT (in GUIGlobals.java) from 2 to 5. Using
the constants GUIGlobals.SMALL_W etc. had only little effect...
Is it possible to set absolute height values? like e.g. 1 line,
independent of the tab height?
It would be nice to add an option of providing custom weight also in the
compiled versions for the standard users.

JabRef uses "field weights" internally to determine how much space to
use for the various fields. However, there is no mechanism to
customize these weights, so custom fields will end up having the
default weight.
Therefore, the only way to customize this is to make code changes. I
realize this isn't something the average user wants to get into, but
if you want to, the actual changes are fairly straightforward. You
need to add or modify a single line for each field you want to change
(the field properties are set up in
src/java/net/sf/jabref/BibtexFields.java).
