Hello Celano, to do this, you create layout files for each reference type and a general layout file that is used if no specific layout is defined e.g. celano_style.layout celano_style.book.layout celano_style.article.layout
May be this Tool: http://jabref.sourceforge.net/resources.php#OOtool is suitable for you. There you can create layout files without specific knowledge about the infrastructure.
