I'm also playing with such options right now. I use the same version
(2.10b2 on Ubuntu). As mentioned by Jorge , Right click + "Open folder"
doesn't work. "Open folder" from the "Tools" menu neither. However,
Right click on a file entry (in the "General" tab) + "Open folder" works.
Alex, for me all the combinations of Open file (Right click + "Open
file", "Tools > Open file" menu, Right click on a file entry (in the
"General" tab) + "Open file" works). Are you using Linux based OS? I
guess those OS use the MIME type to open a file type so you don't have
anything to configure (that could also explain why "Open file" works if
a directory name is used). Under other OS you probably have to configure
what program to use ("Options > Preferences" then select "External
programs" and click "Manage external file types").
So it sounds more like an UI problem (certain menu/icons are not
connected to what they should do) than a functional problem. Starting
Jabref from terminal shows this message: could not get key binding for
"Open folder".
