Hi,

I have found this thread from 2012 on the same topic: 
http://sourceforge.net/p/jabref/mailman/message/28841652/. The 
workaround is rather complicated.

As I said, using a directory in 'file' works (at least with 2.10b2 under 
Ubuntu). I guess it's because of the use of MIME types but the UI kind 
of hides it.
