Ideally one should be able to copy and paste text that contains a citation in a way that preserves the "citation-ness" of the copied citation. Is that possible with LibreOffice 4.2.8.2 and JabRef 2.9.2?
Senario: Edit a "text document" in LibreOffice 4.2.8.2 that looks like this: Foo Bar Put cursor at end of first line. Select article by Schmidt and Smegegi in JabRef 2.9.2 Push selection to the LibreOffice text document Result: the citation (Schmidt and Smegegi 2012) appears in the text document. Foo (Schmidt and Smegegi 2012) <-- sentence with original citation Bar So far so good. If I were to click on the button "Ensure that the bibliography is up-to-date" the document would include the bibliographic information for Schmidt and Smegegi 2012. But copying and pasting a block of text that contains inserted citations turns the pasted citations into ordinary text. In the text document select the first sentence Copy it Paste it to a new location in the text document so now the document looks like this: Foo (Schmidt and Smegegi 2012) <-- sentence with original citation Bar Foo (Schmidt and Smegegi 2012) <-- copied sentence Big clue of impending trouble: in the original sentence, the citation has a dark grey background; in the copied sentence, it does not. Now delete the original sentence. The document becomes Bar. Foo (Schmidt and Smegegi 2012) <-- copied sentence Finally click on the button "Ensure that the bibliography is up-to-date" Result: no bibliography is generated This is a big problem, especially for any article that undergoes nontrivial revision.
