Not wishing to continue with this multiplication of groups, I reverted to JabRef 9.10. However, its group function is now gone. Whatever group I select, no entries are associated with it. I can create link groups with entries, but all old information is missing. What is the file that holds this information? Knowing it I could partially recover from a backup.
