Finally! Originally hoped for early December 2016, release of the first pre-release for Jackson 2.9, will be out soon. I have started the process, and found 4 separate issues regarding changes in (most likely) jackson-databind that caused test failures in other components. I fixed one (regarding coercion of "" into null/empty value, which broke tests for `Optional`), so 3 more to go.
In the meantime, you may observe partial release (some components have version out, others not). No cause for alarm, the rest will follow once I either fix the issues, or determine they are non-blockers (for pre-release version). Change list will be maintained at: https://github.com/FasterXML/jackson/wiki/Jackson-Release-2.9 and I hope to blog a bit at least about 5 "big" features to be included. Beyond pr1 I will still work on some features; most notably: 1. Try to get non-blocking/async JSON/Smile decoded implemented 2. Get Amazon Ion format dataformat backend ready to be included (with backport releases for at least 2.8 and 2.7) but also many smaller fixes. Also: once I have completed pr1 push -- and I will send a note when that occurs -- I could use lots of help in smoke testing of the pre-release. This is the critical phase in trying to get initial 2.9.0 as regression-free as possible, and I hope we can continue the trend of getting (slightly ever) stabler and stabler .0 releases out. -+ Tatu +- -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "jackson-dev" group.
