I had hoped to do actually do this for 2.9:

but so that it'd cover all methods. So it's a known problem wrt
streams & inability to propagate checked exceptions.
Seemed slightly tricky (if it wasn't it'd be done... the usual), but plausible.
I guess it's not impossible it might still make it, but right now I am
furiously trying to complete non-blocking parsing for json (smile
works now; cbor would be easy but I may postpone) so perhaps it'll
wait for 3.x.
