I had hoped to do actually do this for 2.9: https://github.com/FasterXML/jackson-databind/issues/779 but so that it'd cover all methods. So it's a known problem wrt streams & inability to propagate checked exceptions. Seemed slightly tricky (if it wasn't it'd be done... the usual), but plausible.
