First let's clarify following:

mentioned page has no single word "agent",

at a time when everyone were able to edit this page, such idea was added by
Fabrice Daugan

https://github.com/jacoco/jacoco/wiki/FilteringOptions/_compare/b0288be08be5fdd0d13321d6d630d3129786cee7...1ed71f2b493345bd67f4bfc26f41766fc21d2113

and we responded that exclusion of methods from final report cannot and
should not be done via "excludes" options of agent

https://github.com/jacoco/jacoco/wiki/FilteringOptions/_compare/0a2ee10c9d17e71714e7eb984410b9472d318e61...a284e2a13c5efd93779f91c37813300f732fbc7d

and since there is no reasons to exclude methods at instrumentation time
(agent), this idea was eventually removed

https://github.com/jacoco/jacoco/wiki/FilteringOptions/_compare/238947b79567ddcd28d0201ed761a62477cfc8a4...1f9b791c6a311d011ce5cab54a47fffe2b5fd2fc

---

The same page already mentions one of difficulties with manual exclusion of
methods from final report
https://github.com/jacoco/jacoco/issues/34

To avoid this and many other complications with manual exclusions in
general, my personal advice - is to look into direction of your own custom
report generator based on XML report post-processing.

Regards,
Evgeny
