To "the effort and pleasure it will gif you when it’s finished", I would also add "and when you build it". Because mine is far from being finished, I even wonder if someday it'll be finished... For now, it does nothing except haunting my days :) My bot is derived from a RC tank toy (photos: http://sirloon.net/loonaweb/sirblog/dissecting-a-rc-tank). I've built a DC motor controller to control it, with back-emf sensor, and try to build a robot which could draw a map...
