Hi Vasile,

Is hard to design a successful board and they want some sort of
support for jallib development.

You have right about Arduino but it is a success on his niche -
newbies and very newbies. Newbies, not matter their age. You can see
arduino on home made routers, 3D printers, as computer for
motorcycles, as drivers for photo cameras flying in Space (not a joke,
they anchored a photo camera on a balloon), etc...

Is something like PICAXE (which have also a huge community, where a
lot of members can never migrate to real pics) but with connectors,
clock and power on board and ready to "blink a LED" for teaching a
newbie. Is good for small projects, anything else require to have
professionally designed shields, using SMD technique.

Internet is full of educational boards, more or less configurable.
But, what are the sales for those boards? Or what chances have an
arduino clone with Microchip microcontroller? What will be the reason
on buying that?

I looked at Pinguino and the majority of his fans are from latin
world. The main reason of choosing Pinguino for people from South
America is because Atmel chips are very expensive for them and rare.
The second reason is that a Pinguino board is easy to build (not the
case of Arduino where you need to buy the board at least). The third
reason is the (almost) compatibility of the programming language
(still, JAL is more easy but what will be the reason of adopting it in
such context?) and the huge database of applications for Arduino,
mainly in robotic area. Is easy to make 10 boards and start lessons in
an University in South America. Don't know the exact reason of Spain
and Portugal people of adopting Pinguino... maybe the easy of building
it?

What is the reason for such a (educational) board for me? Well, I
can't buy a microcontroller for every project I want to have. But
also, I can't afford to spend a microcontroller for an educational
board which can't be used in a real application. Yes, If I design an
application, I want to be able to use the educational board for a
whille on that application because I don't have other choice. Or
Arduino, but specially Boarduino and Pinguino like boards, can be used
also in the application for which the shield was designed. And for
Boarduino/Pinguino like boards, the shield is in fact the motherboard,
which can have any dimensions (the main attraction for me).

What are my reasons for Boarduino, Sanguino and Pinguino boards? Well,
I ... evolved :). Now I'm ready for bigger projects and the shields
for Arduino are too small or unaesthetic if they become bigger than
the arduino.

Why Arduino? I always wanted one :P. Sebastien have a background
Arduino activity, and I think also Joep... they activate in robotic
area (I like only CNC Routers stuff).

I don't know else. Who knows, maybe is a wrong path...
But I didn't saw jallib team involving in the development of such a
board!!!
Many of them disagree... but what are their reasons? Before any other
jallib official board, I think they must open a discussion and present
all "pro" and "cons" arguments. It is a serious matter.
