Hey

I'm running a >38°C fever here, so I didn't really have the chance to
look into this problem further.
But since you already posted a lot of reply's, I really had to post
one too!

This is a piece of the source code:

forever loop
        -- poll the usb ISR function on a regular base, in order to
        -- serve the USB requests
        usb_serial_flush()

    -- check if USB device has been configured by the HOST
        if ( usb_cdc_line_status() !=  0x00 )  then
        portb = 0b_0000_0010
                if !has_shown_welcome_msg then
                        has_shown_welcome_msg = true
                        print_string( usb_serial_data, str_welcome )
                end if
        else
                has_shown_welcome_msg = false
                portb = 0b_1000_0000
        end if

        -- check for input character
        if usb_serial_read( ch ) then
           portb = 0b_1111_0000
                -- echo input character
                usb_serial_data = ch
        end if

end loop

Which means that it isn't really stuck in a loop, but rather the
serial is just not initialised. Taking out the first IF case won't
change that I guess.
I'm running under windows (tried both windows XP and windows 7) and it
shows up nicely in device manager (com port, device name...)

The 18F2553 is exactly the same as the 2550, only it has a slightly
better ADC. (which makes it > 0.50$ more expensive!)

I hope you can help me out, else I'm going to use and FTDI breakout
board, but that's really not as elegant as everything on one board!

Thanks
Toon
