PS: Because we (the core members of Jallib: Joep, Rob, Seb) consider Jallib as being mature now, we announce our retirement! We stay available for some time to help with the transfer of tasks, responsibilities, ownership, etc, to the next generation of maintainers! ==> Candidates are welcome to apply!
I don’t like your PS Rob, You made with the team a wonder-wonder-wonderful job. We will miss your wisdom and experience. When reading the last « Abridged summary of [email protected] » I feel: I am in Asterix and Obelix Gaelic village. http://www.bonjourlafrance.com/asterix.htm Always squabbling but with a common goal: developing PIC use and its community. I started with Wouter JAL ten years ago, happy to find an easy language for the PICs. Later came V2 with improved features. I use some V2 libraries not other because too complex fore me. I saw the slow change of a language used mostly by Hard Ware men to one for the information Technology. When for example Sebastien write in jallib, some time I don’t understand any of his action, I’m too old to switch. I use JAL fore small applications to add improvement to existing feature of products or to build something specific for model maker friends. I happened to be unfaithful to JAL using an Arduino board and C language (not very easy for me compared to JAL) for a friend for two reasons: - He wanted to be able later to modify himself the SW. - I needed to use an USB interface (and understand its SW) and make a PCB for. Even with Olimex or Eurocircuits services it was much more expensive than an Arduino tested board. My opinion, probably biased by my own experience: PICs are very nice products for electronic fans “warped by hobbyists from the initial market goal” i.e. cost sensitive industrial production. Coming from electronic development world: When something is working on the market, don’t try to do the same thing, you will be always late… Arduino is made for SW only men wanting to try to build some HW application. See the numerous shields! JAL is for people wanting to improve the HW using SW Patrick -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "jallib" group.
