What do you mean relayed to localhost?  That sounds like a loop condition
and something you want to avoid.  You could set the remote delivery mailet
as a gateway to direct mail back to itself if you wanted.  Also the
sendMail() methods stick a message at the top of the processing queue, which
is effectively like sending a message to itself.
