Sounds like we need to make this clearer. Alas, I don't think it's as
simple as your suggestion. The message is generated by Avalon, which
might be running other applications as well as James, so it couldn't be
specifed like that. Perhaps we should add something in README or
docs/install.html? What do you think people are most likely to read?

I don't know anything about Macs, but on Unixes, these ports are
reserved for the superuser account. (Probably all ports below 1024)

Maybe. On the other hand, what if the connection is from a hostile
party? I'll have a look.

Let's add that to the Todo list. Some ISPs offer SMTP relay for dial-up
(demon in the uk).
