If I understan s/mime correctly it is a client to client encyption
mechanism which means that only the client needs to support it and not
neccesarily James. However James could add support for doing s/mime on
server via a mailet (ie if bob posts then encrypt it with bobs key before
relaying) however it doesn't at the moment. The main reason is that it
requires use of cryptix library which has not yet been approved by apache
council. Cryptix can be legally distributed on a US server now but we would
need to seek permission from PMC just to make sure.
