Hello, Minasan!
My name is Yukari, and I work with a very exciting Study Abroad
program in Japan! I just joined this e-group today, and hope this
kind of information is acceptable for this egroup.
Akita International University is located in Akita, northern part of
Honshu, and a newly established / accredited Japanese public
university. We offer VERY AFFORDABLE, HIGH-QUALITY, and REWARDING
study abroad opportunities for university students and adults. We
are very different from other typical Japanese universities for the
following reasons:
- All instruction is in English, except for Japanese language classes
- Roughly 60% of our faculty and 15-30% of our student body are of
non-Japanese origin
- Our average student-faculty ratio is less than 10 --> Small
classroom instruction
Upcoming programs are:
- SUMMER PROGRAM 2005: Jun.21-Jul. 29, 2005 (6 wks) <DL Mar. 31>
- FALL SEMESTER 2005: Sep.5-Dec.22, 2005 (15 wks) <DL May 1>
- Winter Program 2006*: Jan.16-Mar.10, 2006 (7.5 wks)
- Academic Year
* Only those who are registered in Fall Semester may take courses in
Winter Program
The program fees, which include Tuition, Room (dormitory), Meals
(campus cafeteria), Health insurance, and student fees, are:
- SUMMER PROGRAM 2005: about $2,200
- FALL/SPRING SEMESTER: about $5,000
- WINTER PROGRAM: about $2,500
We offer variety of field trips, cultural events, local festivals,
weekend homestay, and more. In most cases, you can use financial aid
for studying abroad and transfer credits back to your university.
Never taken Japanese class before? No worries! You can start taking
a formal Japanese course in Japan and take variety of courses in
English while living in Japan (except for the summer program - we
require completion of at least 1 semester of Japanese language at a
college level)! If you have or will have completed at least one year
(two semesters) of study at a university/college and have a minimum
GPA of 2.5, please contact me by e-mail or phone. I will send you
more information.
