I'm sorry I can't remember where I found it, but I do recommend it:
Advanced Apache JServ Techniques
ApacheCon 1998
By Stefano Mazzocchi and Pierpaolo Fumagalli
I am relatively new to servlets and to java in general, but the Advanced
Apache JServ Techniques
did answer many questions. In particular, how the 'Three Tier' model works
and what benefits it
has over the two tier model.
After reading about all this stuff I had a look at the task manager to see
the processes Apache and Apache JServ
in action. Incidentally, I am running NT4 with mod_jserv. I was a little
surprised to find two Apache.exe processes
running and one java.exe process. What I expected was one Apache.exe, one
ApacheJserv.exe and one JVM.
Where is the JServ Engine?
Thanks in advance for any help or explanations.
