i'm working on the final solution.
essentially, what you need to do is emulate the protocol between the jvm and
the httpd process and tell Apache JServ running in the JVM to shutdown. on
the developers list, we all thought that we would have to write something in
C to take care of this until one guy got smart and did it in Java (duh!) and
now we have some very simple code that does what we need. expect it to be
available in 1.0b4.
considering the fact that this was one of the major show stoppers for 1.0
release, it is a relief to finally have this problem solved.
