I've determined that my problem (with the browser failing to detect
that the connection has been closed) is connected with some JNI code
that I'm using in the servlet. Specifically, I'm using J/Link (a Java
interface to MathLink), and the servlet that opens the connection to
Mathematica is the one that suffers from this strange behaviour.
I have yet to determine whether it's a bug in my code or in the J/Link
library, but regardless, this is not an Apache JServ question.
