but there is the IBM license problem which may go away in the future
I'd recommend a commercial db like Oracle, Sybase,Informx, DB2 if you are
db intensive.
You can get a free production (not dev only) version of Sybase for linux at
linux.sybase.com
JDBC driver is at http://www.sybase.com/products/internet/jconnect/
