I really need the server up all the time, it could be in a position where
users will be configuring servlets through a web interface. Plus I will be
adding users to the system using a web interface, and will need the zones
set up automatically, and Apache needs to know about them almost instantly.

Hello!

Create a few servlet zones to play with.
But do you REALLY want beginners (like me) run their serlets on your 'must
be uptime all the year' server????
Every new user (developer?) should install apache & JServ on his local
machine. So he will also learn about the installation & configuration of
webservers.

Just my thoughts about that..
