Don't make us guess your problem!!! ---------------------------------------------------------------- Windows 2000 Apache 1.3.9 Hi, Weird question here. As part of a test staging environment for a production system, our product (including servlets/JSP) is automatically built several times per day. This includes integrating changes to .conf files for both Apache and JServ. The results are then 'deployed' to a staging environment. In order to make sure that the staging environment is 'clean' and free from artifacts from previous builds, we basically clear out the staging directory and copy a baseline Apache installation (yes, as in copy /s c:\apache c:\staging\), on which we then overlay our conf files. My question is this: are we materially affecting how Apache works by bypassing the standard installation procedure? For example, are things written to the registry during standard installation that are important to the operation of the web server, JServ, etc.? I know there are administrative items in the registry for uninstall, etc., but those don't concern me. Thanks for any information.
