Isn't that backwards???
The driver class files should be relatively static. Why would you want the
overhead of checking the timestamp every time they are accessed? (Provided
that JServ is configured to reload classes.)

You should make sure that the driver is not in your wrapper.classpath and
IS in the repository list in your zone file.
