Hey everybody ...

I'll try to make this short and sweet. Basically I've just gone through my
first run through of installing the jserv module to apache 1.3.12 on a stock
redhat linux 6.2 system. I thought I was doing pretty well until I restarted
the server, and tried the test page
http://207.239.53.242:8007/example/Hello but nothing was doing.

The mod_jserv module starts up ok ..
[Fri Aug 25 14:20:58 2000] [notice] Apache/1.3.12 (Unix) ApacheJServ/1.1.2
PHP/4.0.1pl2 mod_perl/1.24 configured

But when I go to http://207.239.53.242/jserv/ and click on the mapped
servlet engines link "ajpv12://localhost:8007" .. I find this in my jserv
log file ...

[25/08/2000 14:21:08:272] (EMERGENCY) ajp12: can not connect to host
127.0.0.1:8007
[25/08/2000 14:21:08:272] (EMERGENCY) ajp12: connection fail
[25/08/2000 14:21:08:272] (ERROR) an error returned handling request via
protocol "ajpv12"
[25/08/2000 14:21:08:272] (ERROR) an error returned handling request via
protocol "status"

I bet this has been covered before. But guess what, I can't find anything
pertaining to this in the faq :(.

If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd be much obliged.

- joel

p.s. Just out of curiosity .. I'm installing jserv as a solution to trying
out jsp files instead of php or asp ... is jserv enough? or do i have to
look into something like gnujsp or tomcat? Thx !!
