SYSTEMS ENGINEER ROLE
Primary responsibility will be to help facilitate the success of the
SharePoint collaboration services offering roll out. This includes
documentation, working with end users, information architecture planning and
maintenance. Candidate will be part of a team that is responsible for day to
day operations of the Collaboration and Messaging environments with a
possible on call rotation. Candidate will also participate in Active
Directory and messaging activities which include but are not limited to:
Microsoft Exchange 2000 and Exchange 2007 administration (enterprise),
Active Directory 2003 rollout, domain migrations, architecture design and
implementation, escalation resolution, enterprise system monitoring, DNS,
WINS, design\implementation on new wireless messaging systems, and training
of support teams.

Specific Duties, Activities, and Responsibilities:

Primary Activities:

• SharePoint 2003 to 2007 Migrations
• SharePoint 2007 server administration in a global environment
• Microsoft Exchange 2000/2007 server administration in a global enterprise
environment
• Participate in Tier III on call rotation (24x7)
• Provide knowledge transfer and mentoring for global tiered support
personnel
• Work with business users to educate and help administer SharePoint
solutions
• Provide Tier III support as a subject matter expert for Messaging and
Collaborations Services
• Document Processes for end user FAQ's

Secondary Activities
• Implement policies, procedures, and standards
• Participate in other Messaging and Active Directory related projects
• Scripting to support AD and Exchange Environments
Position Requirements:


Specific skills required to successfully support a Global Windows Exchange
2000 Shared Services Organization:

• 2-4 years experience with SharePoint and Exchange Collaboration
Technologies
• 1-2 years of experience SharePoint 2007 Environments
• 3-4 years experience with Microsoft Exchange 2000 Enterprise, Windows 2000
Enterprise, Windows 2000 Advanced Server, Windows 2000/2003 Active
Directory.
• 2+ Years experience working with business process owners to identify
technology solutions that meet the needs of the client.
• 1+ Years developing disaster recovery plans for highly available
environments.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft operating platforms and Office
applications (including Visio & Project).
• Proficient with TCP/IP and IT related applications such as WINS, DNS and
TELNET.
• Excellent research skills
• Technical documentation skills
• Client Training Skills

Additional Beneficial Skills:

• Windows 2000, XP, NT (Applications and Utilities).
• General Understanding of SAN technology
• General Understanding of MS SQL
• General Understanding of MS Exchange
• General Understanding of Networking technology
• General Understanding of Information Architecture and Taxonomy Strategies

Broad skills required to successfully support a Shared Services
Organization:

• Practical experience coding in Java, Visual Basic and/or Visual Basic
Scripting. Knowledge of Active Directory Service Interfaces (ADSI), ActiveX
Data Objects (ADO), Collaboration Data Objects (CDO), CDO for Windows NT
Server (CDONTS), Jscript, VBScript, Windows Management Instrumentation
(WMI), SharePoint API.
• Experience with other messaging systems such as: Lotus Notes, GroupWise,
cc:Mail, Exchange 5.5 helpful.
• Experience with various Firewall solutions such as: Checkpoint, PIX and
Microsoft ISA.
• Industry certifications such as MCSE, ASE, Server+, Network+, A+ are not
required but highly preferred.

• Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to
facilitate communication and coordination with network users throughout the
company

• Must be able to deal appropriately with confidential information

• Provide client support, develop documentation and manage processes when
changes occur
• Train/mentor Tier II support services
