THIS IS A MULTI YEAR ENGAGEMENT Branchburg, NJ 50/hr Duties and Responsibilities: - Provide network design, engineering, implementation and technical support/documentation for the *WAN (Wide Area Network), LAN (Local Area Network) and* Northeast Area Network Equipment Centers comprised of an Official Telecom Network (OTN) running on an Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) backbone along with numerous routed networks including a *WDN (Wireless Data Network), and an EDN (Engineering Data Network). * - Work closely with multiple organizations (internal and external) and manage projects in order to provide connectivity through the data networks and Network Equipment Centers for existing and new applications. - Project manages new network deployments and assists in the design process of integrating data networks with the *ATM backbone. * - Manage, maintain and configure network hardware (ex: LAN Switches, Load Balancers, Content Switches, Routers, and ATM devices). - Complete service requests within required timeframes including updating documentation. - Create detailed *MOPs (Method of Procedure*) to fulfill service requests including port activations, customer *FES connectivity, vendor FES connectivity, WDN, EDN and ATM changes. * - Execute MOPs (when necessary) including pre- and post- testing of network changes. - Coordinate and implement data network copper and fiber cabling. - Review *MOPs with Data Services Operations for changes Data Services Operations* will execute. - Conduct regular meetings with regional, Network Equipment Center and project management teams to review outstanding service requests and convey information regarding Data Services Engineering roadmap. - Conduct regular meetings with Data Sales Engineers to discuss service request status, prioritization and ongoing Data Services Engineering activities. - Monitor performance of data network elements and plan for capacity increases and performance optimizations. - Schedule and run daily reports on network links and network elements to verify network capacity and network performance. - Trend network link and element usage to keep ahead of capacity needs, order additional facilities, increase bandwidth and take corrective preventative action as needed. - Provide 2nd tier technical support to the Data Services Operations team on any data networking issues. - Overnight travel may be required to regions and training. - Technical / Project implementation presentations may be periodically required. Candidate Qualifications: - Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent data networking and telecommunications service experience. - Minimum 3 years experience in data networking and telecommunications is required including expert knowledge of TCP/IP, ATM and MPLS. - Minimum 3 years experience configuring routers, *LAN switches, ATM switches, Load Balancers and Content Switches (Cisco 12K, 10K, 7500, 7300, 3600, 2600, 6500, MGX8850, Cisco IOS/IOS-XR, Cisco Content Services Switches (CLI and IOS-WEB-NS), Ciscoworks, Juniper M320, Junos, Junoscope and F5 Big IP content switches (CLI and GUI)). * - Minimum 3 years experience in IP addressing and subnetting, *BGP, OSPF, RIP, VLANs, 802.1q, PPP, MLPPP, Frame Relay, ATM, PNNI, MPLS, QoS, T1, T3, OC3, OC12, OC48, OC192, CSU/DSU, CAT5-6 cabling, Copper and Fiber connectivity, ATM products (MGX8850, MGX8950, Passport), POS and Sniffer products.* - CCNA Expected, CCNP Preferred /In Progress (at least one of the four tests taken is expected) Candidate should possess expert knowledge and skill set of BGP & OSPF, general telephony architecture and principles, networking security (i.e. firewalls, SecureID, security protocols, TACACS and Radius), ISDN internetworking and troubleshooting (BRI and PRI), SNMP, network management, HP Openview, Concord eHealth and network equipment MIBs. MPLS, IPv6, and VoIP experience is preferred. A strong understanding of structured network design and the OSI Interconnect model especially how it relates to the design and deployment of structured networks is required as well as strong project management skills, strong interpersonal and communications skills (written and oral), and the ability to handle / prioritize multiple projects simultaneously. Candidate should possess experience working with wireless customers to engineer FES (Fixed End System) customer connectivity, bring customer connectivity online, and troubleshoot customer connectivity issues. Candidate should possess knowledge of the CDMA wireless networking services that customers will utilize . Knowledge of script writing and system administration is desirable. Experience with REMEDY ticketing system is also desirable. Good PC skills on Windows 95/98/NT/2k/XP/Vista and MS Office, Project and Visio are required. Candidate should be a solid communicator (both written and verbal) and a team player as well as be able to lead and participate in technical sessions, lead projects and coordinate technical implementation discussions.
