Job description:
Client currently has a position open at Philadelphia for a Splunk Admin. 
Client is looking for someone who has experience supporting and working 
with Splunk at more than just a monitoring or user level. This position 
will be doing both project work to continue to enhance Comcast’s Splunk 
environment, and respond to tickets for general environment maintenance. 
The hiring manager is definitely open to candidates who will relocate for 
the position, but an on-site interview is required at some point and any 
travel associated with that process won’t be billable to client.


Team Details:
• Only Splunk team within Comcast
• Perform a combination of ticket and project based work.
• Individuals handle roughly 100 tickets per month and work with the 
incident management team. 
• Team currently has 1 Senior Engineer (FTE) and 3 Splunk Engineers 
(Contractors)
• Contract length is long term, 12/31/15 but is almost certain to be 
extended all the way through 2016
• Candidate must be willing to do some on-call work, but they are very 
flexible, it is never overnight, and individuals almost never work more 
than 40 hours in a given week

Scope:
• This position will work closely with the following teams: 
• Engineering
• Production Support
• Infrastructure 
• Business Intelligence

Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain, grow and improve the TVX Splunk environemt
- Support large-scale deployments across multiple datacenters
- Monitor & track Splunk performance problems and administration
• Develop reliable, efficient queries that will feed custom:
- Alerts
- Dashboards
- Reports
• Populate Splunk from 3rd party data sources (i.e. bash/python scripts/SQL 
DB/APIs)
• Report status through JIRA tickets and track work effectively

Preferred Skills:
• 2 yrs of HANDS-ON experience with distributed Splunk administration
• Linux Systems administration experience
• Experience Python/Perl or other OO based language
• Familiarity with Java-based server applications and logging frameworks
• Exposure to database/big data technologies: SQL (MySQL, Oracle), No-SQL 
databases (Cassandra, Mongodb, Reis)
• Excellent Written and oral skills are needed
