Actually, as I read the "back-compat discussion", I think that doing what you
propose may break back-comapt? I mean, what if someone else's Scorer's doc()
may throw an exception after its next() or skipTo() return false? So far our
code made sure we don't call doc(), next() or skipTo() after the Scorer 'told'
us it has no more documents. Now we're saying we will call doc() even if the
scorer told us it has no more documents.
Even though I believe it's very unlikely there is a Scorer which behaves that
way, there is one for sure in Lucene (ReqExclScorer). So I don't know ... this
whole back-compat is really a pain :).
What do you think?
