Who is this "we" of which you speak? If someone using Solr needs something
changed in Lucene, a patch submitted to Lucene JIRA should be no more hard to
get committed than a patch submitted to the Solr JIRA, no? The release cycle
may be slower, but yes, as Earwin says, maybe this just gives another reason
for more rapid minor version iteration in Lucene.
