This is sort of an announcement -- I don't think it's been posted here before, but it's quite on-topic for Java/Linux support. http://jusb.sourceforge.net/ has a Java API giving access to the Linux USB support. LGPL'd, so you can use it in products. This has been developed in sync with the Linux USB kernel support, and with kernel 2.4.0-test9 (plus test10 prepatches) has been solid for a number of things including the "jPhoto" application (follow the link) supporting a new USB standard for digital still image devices (like cameras). The most recent source is a developer snapshot (0.4.0) that's partly through the first cleanup of the API since this Spring -- good time to comment if you have suggestions about that. RMI support is in the works, so if you compileon Win32 you'll get client side support. (Feel free to contribute a Win32 implementation.) What's solid is control and bulk communications; periodic transfers aren't available at this time, though Linux should support some "interrupt" style transfers. Enough of the announcement -- download the software and use it! :- - David Brownell ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
