Ok that makes sense. I still find it pretty > disgusting that Sun seem to have done this with total disregard for Java > developers who don't run Windows.
It's not total disregard, it's a question of where Sun applies the precious resources. If Microsoft succeeds in wiping out Java as a viable client-side platform on Windows, the importance of VolatileImage (among many other things) will go down the toilet. What we Linux types do with client-side Java is lost in the noise level of this loud battle. This isn't to say that Sun shouldn't fix the problem - they should. But the problem will be rendered irrelevant if they don't successfully battle back against the Evil Empire. I have no idea if the Blackdown folks are addressing this problem for their JDK1.4 release - resources are even more precious for Blackdown than they are for Sun. Of course, you or I can choose to pick up the problem once the JDK1.4 sources are published. :-) Nathan ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
