Location – Milwaukee Long term Rate – DOE (50-55$) *Description ** *Senior level Database Administrator as part of a six person Oracle team. As such priorities are given to: server installation and configuration, backup and recovery activities, tuning, server maintenance and troubleshooting, database monitoring, and utility installation, configuration and use to enhance database function. *Principal Duties:* 1. Perform database analysis tasks on various sized databases. Analysis to include consulting with applications personnel on definition and set up, assist in the installation of new systems, and devise and implement back up procedures to guarantee data integrity and security. 2. Perform database design functions, including physical database design, configuration, and implementation. 3. Perform tasks on the database including monitoring and performance tuning. 4. Provide back up and recovery support to databases to insure data security and integrity. 5. Provide consultative services to applications teams in the area of database design. 6. Manage schema changes. 7. Perform planning functions producing detailed plans (using automated tools) of the work required and associated time frames. 8. Participate in the ongoing creation of and adherence to established standards for database design and function. 9. Participate in post implementation reviews, at the request of the applications group, to review services provided and determine what modifications might be warranted to provide a better level of service. 10. Participate in company sponsored training programs as well as locally available user groups to provide continuing educational opportunities. 11. Provide consultative services to applications teams in the area of database design. *Requirements: ** * 1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Business Administration. 2. Five to seven years experience in data processing, with at least five years concentrated hands on experience with Oracle in a UNIX environment. Significant production operational experience with complex databases. 3. Oracle experience to include specialization in the following areas: a) Oracle 9i/10G experience b) SQL, PL/SQL c) Client/server environment d) Oracle utilities installation, maintenance and use, including: 1)) Oracle networking configuration and utilities 2)) SQL*PLUS 3)) SQL*LOADER 4)) Export/Import 5)) Oracle RMAN utilities 6)) Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) e) 2-5 years production Oracle Real Cluster (RAC) 10GR2 experience f) 2-5 years production Oracle Data Guard 10GR2 experience 4. Good oral and written communications skills. Ability to work with both technical and non-technical teams. 5. Minimum of five years experience in providing technical support in a production Information Technology environment. 6. Strong UNIX skills with experience in shell programming. 7. Knowledge and experience with Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) and EMC Timefinder is desired. 8. Strong database disaster recovery knowledge and experience. 9.
